CDS Defence Support say thank you to Safety Engineer, Mr Alan Skidmore, as he retires today.

Today, after nearly 17 years of working for CDS Defence Support, our deputy Security Controller and Safety Engineer, Alan Skidmore, retires from the company.

Alan started working for CDS Defence Support back in 2001, before the Baird Group purchased the company and when CDS DS were still known as Cheltenham Technical Publications (CTP). Initially, Alan started as an Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) engineer but as the company grew and the safety department in CDS DS took off, Alan demonstrated his flexibility and willingness to retrain and become a Safety Engineer.

Alan has taken on many other roles in the company alongside his Safety Engineering role, including taking on the challenge of Security Controller within the company, moving to Deputy Security Controller recently whilst training his replacement.

Before his time at CDS DS, Alan started out as an apprentice at Dowty Engineering and worked in many other engineering capacities before his start in 2001.

Alan is a family man, and is looking forward to enjoying more time in the garden and hill walking with his wife, Lin and his 2 children; Helen and Michael.

Richard Bradley, CDS DS Managing Director said, “I want to say thank you to Alan for his hard work and support during his time in the company, he has been thoroughly enjoyable to work with and he will be sorely missed.”
