CDS Defence Support Safety Case Success
CDS DS has been selected to support the ICT safety case development for the UK MFTS training facility at RAF CRANWELL.
RAF Barkston Heath is part of the United Kingdom Military Flying Training System and provides Fixed Wing Training for new Aircrew candidates. The Barkston Heath site has recently undergone a building refurbishment which included an ICT system upgrade, delivered by Babcock International Group.
CDS Defence Support was contracted to provide a detailed safety assessment of this new training ICT infrastructure, providing evidence Babcock Engineering and their sub-contractors had delivered a capability that meets all of the safety requirements legislated for. Once completed, the RAF Barkston Heath training site will house a maximum of 26 instructors and 48 students at any given point, with training due to begin at the end of July 2017.
On the strength of its performance, CDS Defence Support has now been tasked with completing similar safety assessment for the larger RAF Cranwell training facility. This newly built training facility is significantly larger and a much more impressive venue, with the capacity to train hundreds of students at a time. Training is expected to commence in October 2017.
