Functional and Systems Safety Management

We provide safety management support services to the MoD, Primes and SME defence contractors for in-service, legacy and Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) equipment, including: standalone equipment, vehicles, complex weapons systems, installations, transmitter sites, capabilities and system of systems. These services are delivered across all phases of the CADMID cycle.

In September 2006 an RAF Nimrod crashed killing 14 people.
Charles Haddon-Cave QC identified a failure in safety awareness as a key factor in the accident and made some key recommendations on how to resolve the organisational shortfalls in considering safety.
The MoD has subsequently identified Safety Duty Holders, legally responsible individuals, who must ensure ‘a platform is safe to operate’.
The CDS Defence Support Safety Management Team can provide the necessary levels of engineering analysis to assure that platforms and capabilities are ‘safe to operate’ and identify where residual risks exist.
If you can’t provide the evidence to demonstrate that your platform is safe to operate, then you simply aren’t safe to operate it. CDS Defence Support can help.
