Army Trainer Capability Accreditation Report 2025

Our annual update on how our capability is reshaping the Army’s approach to training its trainers.

Helping to achieve recognised qualifications

Produced in response to an independent report, the Army Trainer Capability (ATC) was first designed to help trainers within the British Army achieve formal and recognised qualifications.

It was understood that improving the skills of the trainers enhances the quality of training they can provide, which is critical to maintaining the British Army’s strategic objective for its officers and soldiers to operate with agility.

Today, the ATC continues with this direct support by identifying individuals most capable of serving in trainer roles and developing their skills to ensure maximisation of talent across the force.

The Army’s training culture has shifted to focus on learner engagement, improving the quality of all its learning outcomes, and improving both overall personnel capability and the development opportunities of individuals.

This is the first year of the extended ATC contract, launched in July 2024, which saw CDS DS partner with Made 2 Measure Mentoring (M2M2), working together to continue delivering accreditation, assurance, and development opportunities to over 2,000 Army trainers.

Even with the expanded opportunities provided in the new contract, the core focus of the ATC remains on delivering a high-quality learner experience and nationally recognised qualifications, while embedding the values of lifelong learning and self-development.

This year’s report covers some notable achievements, including:

  • The re-opening of the Levels 5 and 7 workshops

  • L3 Award in Effective Coaching (AiEC) was offered for asynchronous learning

  • Courses ran with a minimum 96% completion rate in Q1 of 2025

Providing ongoing support for trainers guarantees that they remain effective in their roles and, in doing so, strengthens the Army’s ability to develop capable, confident, and competent soldiers, ready to meet the demands of modern military operations.

CDS DS and M2M2 are trusted friends. They serve us well; we can rely on their support and have benefited from their innovation. Working with the team continues to be a pleasure.
