(ONR) List N Certification
Supporting a bid for the for Civil Nuclear Strategic Partner contract.
Problem Statement
A global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting have a desire to bid for the for Civil Nuclear Strategic Partner contract and through previous bids, realise they are weak in areas related to the protection of information classified as OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE, SENSITIVE NUCLEAR INFORMATION (O-S SNI).
Project Objectives
Any commercial client working in the UK civil nuclear sector, with a contractual requirement to hold. Sensitive Nuclear Information (SNI), you’ll need a facility certified as “List N” which requires the holder to comply with Regulation 22 of The Nuclear Industries Security Regulations 2003 “Security of Sensitive Nuclear Information”.
Approach
Prior to becoming a List N duty holder, organisations are typically subject to formal assurance by their respective Contracting Authorities (CA). This process is commonly known as a Facility Security Clearance (FSC).
“The dutyholder can be an individual or an organisation, and their main role is to manage and control risks associated with their activities.”
Therefore, the initial approach was to open communications with the CA to establish contact points at both Industry Security Assurance Centre (ISAC) for FSC and the ONR to initiate the List N process and eventual registration on the List N Portal.
Once this assurance activity has taken place, the designated facility can then be included on the List N Portal, maintained by ONR, The term refers to contractors or subcontractors that have been certified and placed on the List N database because they are carrying out work on their own facility or facilities that require them to hold or generate O-S:SNI or higher. Once this assurance activity has taken place, the designated facility can then be included on the List N Portal, maintained by ONR.
