Project FAIRFAX

On 27 August 2026, the FAIRFAX Collaboration Hub opened at RAF Wyton. We're proud to be a founding member of the FAIRFAX ecosystem, and this is one of the more significant partnerships we've been part of.

The Hub is a central part of Project FAIRFAX, a joint programme between Defence Intelligence, Huntingdonshire District Council and four industry partners: CGI, CDS Defence & Security, MAIAR and Vantor. Located within Wyton's secure perimeter, it gives the MOD and its partners a dedicated space to drive innovation together, run a development lab, and deliver outreach and STEM activities.

What it means for us

Much of our work with Defence happens at a distance. Requirements come out, work goes back in, and the gap between the two costs time.

Project FAIRFAX narrows that gap. A shared space inside Wyton's perimeter means an idea can be tested in a conversation rather than in a document, and we find out quickly whether it holds up. It also gives our people and our partners' people the kind of working relationships that only come from working alongside one another.

Working this closely means ideas can be shaped together from the start, and it puts the relationship on a genuine partnership footing. That's the part we're most pleased about.

Why RAF Wyton

RAF Wyton has long been central to the UK's intelligence work, home to the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence. Defence Intelligence, which sits within Cyber and Specialist Operations Command, provides the analysis and assessment that supports UK defence decision-making, drawing on geospatial and open-source intelligence to help commanders, policymakers and allies.

Wyton has been chosen for significant defence investment over the next five to seven years. The Collaboration Hub is the first building of Wyton Campus and the first step in a wider plan to build an intelligence ecosystem radiating out from the station, deepening ties between Defence, industry and academia. Plans for the legacy airfield include redeveloping the site into a science and technology park that brings industry closer still.

Project FAIRFAX delivers on direction set out in the Strategic Defence Review, allowing Defence to act as an engine for growth in the east of England. We're glad to be building that in a part of the country where we intend to be for a long time.

A day for RAF Wyton's people

The Hub opened as part of RAF Wyton's annual Families Day, with around 2,000 families coming onto the station. Wyton's workforce does demanding work all year, much of it unseen, and a day with their families on the station is the least of what they're owed.

Our commitment to Wyton goes beyond one day. Over the next 12 months, all four companies will support Wyton's new outreach programme, working with local schools and academic institutions to help develop the next generation of Wyton's workforce. If the ambition is an intelligence ecosystem in this region, the people who'll staff it are in local classrooms now.
